Artist, Alpha Chi Omega and Xi Chapter Alumna, Carol Haerer, is represented at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery with an original painting. It is featured in the current exhibit, Better Half, Better Twelfth: Women Artists in the Collection. One of Carol’s “white” paintings was featured in the first half of the exhibition in 2010.

Carol was an Alpha Chi Omega from Xi Chapter and graduated from UNL in 1954. She then attended the Sorbonne in Paris for two years on a Fulbright Fellowship. Later she got her master of fine arts at the University of California – Berkeley. She then moved to New York City, where she maintained a presence until her death in 2002. She traveled widely throughout her life, living for brief periods in Mexico and Greece. Her paintings are in the collections not only at the Sheldon Museum of Art, but also at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art, in New York City, as well as many other notable art museums.
